CBAM DECLARATION

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is an environmental policy tool aimed at ensuring that the
carbon cost of imported goods corresponds to the cost that would have been incurred if the goods had been produced within the European Union (EU). By doing so, CBAM mitigates the risk of carbon leakage
 – that is, the relocation of production to countries with less ambitious decarbonisation policies – which could otherwise undermine the EU’s climate policy objectives.
